Soldier Stabs Hotel Attendant To Death


A soldier, identified as Ayodele Adele, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing a 37-year-old hotel staff to death.

P.M.News gathered that Ayodele was arrested with two of his friends, who were said to be mobile policemen, after the murder of Sunday Bamigboye, a hotel attendant at Channel 5 Hotel, located at 3, Apostle Rufai Street, Egbeda, Lagos.

P.M.News gathered that the accused drove to the hotel at about 11p.m. on Saturday in their Opel car, when the hotel was about to close and requested for drinks.

It was learnt that the victim who was busy parking the chairs told them that the hotel was closed for the day. P.M.News learnt that the accused rejected the explanation and insisted on drinking within the hotel.

An argument was said to have ensued between the hotel staff and the accused who started beating him. The soldier, it was learnt, brought out a knife and stabbed the hotel staff in his right chest. The victim collapsed while the accused escaped in their car.

Investigations revealed that the victim was immediately rushed to the Ikeja General Hospital, but he did not make it as he died on the way. His body was deposited in the hospital's mortuary.

After the incident, P.M.News learnt that the manager of the hotel reported the matter to the police, at Idimu station and a manhunt was launched for the accused.

The culprits were later arrested and detained at the station before they were transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.

When P.M.News visited the hotel, the staff confirmed the incident and referred the reporter to the station where he met the manager who also confirmed it.

None of the policemen at the station was willing to speak on the matter and the DPO was also not around. A source at the station, however, confirmed the incident, describing it as a murder case.

'Arrangements are being made to transfer the matter to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

When P.M.News visited the residence of the victim at 13, Jezza Street, Egbeda, some relations of the victim were found sitting around his mother, consoling her.
